The Wisconsin 2019 LPN Workforce Survey report is the result of the dedicated work and
support of key individuals and partners who share a vision for an adequate, competent, and
diverse nurse workforce to serve the people of Wisconsin.

The Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Center for Nursing (WCN) is deeply indebted to
researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing: Barbara Bowers, PhD,
RN, FAAN, University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Nursing; Jeffrey Henriques, PhD,
University of Wisconsin-Madison, statistician; and Zhiyuan Yu, PhD, RN, Johns Hopkins
University, School of Nursing. Thank you to Molly Gottfried for final formatting and editing of
the report.

WCN is grateful to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, without whose
assistance our work would not be possible. This important survey yields detailed information on
the status of the LPN workforce in Wisconsin and serves as a foundation to address predicted
future nursing shortages that can impact the healthcare in our state. We are also grateful to the
Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services for making the survey accessible to
the thousands of LPNs in our state and to the nurses of Wisconsin for their cooperation in
responding to the survey.
