Students Take Care of Their Careers by Learning Healthcare Skills
Madison College and the Madison Metropolitan School District have joined forces to offer Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training to high school students. The program is taught by instructors from the college who visit the schools and provide students with valuable knowledge and skills in healthcare. This program not only introduces students to career opportunities in healthcare, but also helps them earn important career certifications. The high school students who participate in this program gain practical experience and essential caregiving skills. Jayley Schmelzer, a senior at La Follette High School, is one step closer to achieving her goal of becoming a Nursing Assistant. She is currently enrolled in the CNA program. The course, which is taught by Deb Uschan, is designed to introduce healthcare careers early and helps students determine if nursing is the right career path for them.
