Supporting Dane County’s Healthcare & Public Health Workforce
The Mental Health and Trauma Recovery (MHTR) program works to guide, support programs and provide resources that promote mental health and well-being of health care professionals with the goal of attracting and retaining the Dane County Healthcare workforce. Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin (CAC) in collaboration with Dane County, is dedicated to addressing the unique mental health and trauma recovery needs of healthcare and public health professionals in Dane County. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing workforce challenges have placed significant strain on this community, with 85% of workers feeling like they’re working in a war zone, 82% experiencing depression or anxiety, 30% relying on substances to cope, and 19% knowing a colleague who has considered suicide (Elevated Public Affairs & Victoria Research, January 2022). The MHTR program aims to provide critical support to mitigate these impacts and promote long-term wellness.
