Are you an EMPLOYER* or INDUSTRY PARTNER** who wants to help us build this pathway? CLICK HERE TO LET US KNOW!

We are creating Patient Care Pathways for Healthcare and are looking for employers from around the state to provide input on the:

  • careers that are most in demand in your industry

  • the pathway that your employees typically take to get to and advance in those careers

  • academic and technical skills students will need to be successful in your industry

  • industry recognized certifications that are most appropriate and valuable for high school students to earn

Over 150 school districts in four regions of Wisconsin will have access to these Patient Care Pathways so that they can share it with students and families as a “ready-made” Academic and Career Plan for the students who want to pursue this high skill, high demand industry.  These regions include:

In the future, all regions of the state will have access to Regional Career Pathways.

What does it mean for a school district to offer a Healthcare (Patient Care) Pathway? It means they must offer:

  1. A sequence of Healthcare courses aligned to the skills employers have identified.

  2. An opportunity for students to earn at least one of the industry recognized credentials recommended by employers.

  3. At least one dual college credit opportunity in a post secondary program related to patient care.

  4. A Work-based Learning Opportunity related to patient care.

Each year, the districts who offer the Healthcare (Patient Care) Pathway are required to report the number of students who are participating in pathway and the number of students who complete the pathway.

By giving time to provide input for this Career Pathway, you will be giving students from the entire state advice on what they should be doing in high school and beyond if they want to pursue a career in Healthcare!

* Although it is helpful to send someone from a Human Resource function, it will be equally important for an executive level leader with expertise in careers related to patient care to attend.

**  An industry partner typically comes from an industry-specific association or group and has some expertise related to the industry.  They are there to speak on behalf of their employer members about the jobs, skills, certifications related to the pathway. This initial meeting is not intended for educators and public agency partners.  Future opportunities to work closely with education and public agency partners will occur as the pathway develops and is implemented in districts.
